A practical six-week introduction to singing

One-to-one sessions with Darren Clarke in Ludlow, Shropshire.

£300 for the full programme · Six weekly sessions of 75 minutes

Perhaps you’ve always wanted to sing and wondered where to start. Or perhaps you already sing in a choir or for your own enjoyment and would like to feel more at home with your voice. Foundations gives you six weeks to explore how you sing and build a practice you can carry on with at home.

What we’ll explore

We’ll use gentle movement, breathing exercises and simple sounds to notice what happens when you sing. We’ll explore how vowels shape the sound, how the tongue and jaw can move more freely, and what changes as you sing higher or lower. Then we’ll bring those discoveries into short musical phrases so you can hear and feel what difference they make.

What’s included

  • Six individual sessions, one each week, at my teaching studio in Ludlow.

  • Weekly Singing Compass handouts with exercises, practice ideas and space to note what you notice.

  • A final review to bring together what you’ve discovered and help you decide what to keep practising.

Do I need any singing experience?

You’re welcome to start from scratch. The programme is also for people who sing regularly and would like to revisit the basics. You can come with a particular question about your voice or simply with a curiosity about what it can do.
